Head Coach
Biography:
Originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia, Coach Summey Poag brings energy, experience, and a lifelong love for cheer and gymnastics to the EDS Panther program. A proud graduate of East Carolina University, she spent 14 years competing in gymnastics and also cheered throughout middle and high school.
After years of involvement as both an athlete and coach, Summey now channels her passion for youth sports into her coaching. She has coached for three years, including two at EDS with the Lower School cheer program. Her coaching experience also includes Pop Warner Cheerleading, EDS Littles, and the Junior Panthers cheerleading and tumbling programs.
When she’s not coaching, Summey is a dedicated stay-at-home mom to Audrey and Deacon in 5th and 3rd grade at EDS. Coach loves supporting Panther Nation and helping young athletes build confidence, teamwork, and spirit—both on and off the mat.
Megan Murphy.
Assistant Coach
Biography:
First year coaching in the EDS athletic program. Has coached in the EDS after-school enrichment program for 3 years.
Originally from Gainesville, Georgia, Coach Murphy is a proud graduate of the University of Georgia, where her love of athletics and teamwork grew stronger. A former cheerleader and tennis player, she brings both energy and enthusiasm to her role as a coach.
A Physician Assistant by profession, Coach Murphy has been coaching for three years, sharing her passion for cheerleading and helping young athletes build confidence and spirit. She is deeply invested in the EDS community — not only as a coach but also as a parent of two Panthers: Mason (7th grade) and Kate (5th grade).
Coach Murphy loves being part of EDS and finds great joy in investing in the lives of the students, helping them grow both on and off the field with Panther Pride.
