Derrick Shine.


Head Coach

Biography:

Coach Shine has been a part of Panther Nation and our basketball program since 2016. Coach Shine, a native of Augusta, attended Richmond Academy where he played basketball for the Musketeers. He went on to attend South Carolina State University. He’s currently working on Fort Gordon for MWR and is excited to be coaching at EDS.

Assistant Coach

Biography:

Certainly not a new face to the EDS community, but new to our coaching team is Travis Wright. An Augusta native, Travis was an all-around athlete but later focused his energies on baseball and basketball.  He attended Lakeside High School and Westside High School where he played basketball. He attended Georgia Southern University and played one year of basketball. He graduated from the University of Georgia.  He has coached sports for over 11 years including basketball, soccer, football, and baseball. He is married to Lauren and is a parent of two EDS students, Trav ('20) and Ben (6th). They are members of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church. This will be his 3rd year coaching at EDS. 

Chris Miller.


Assistant Coach

Biography:

Coach Miller is a native of Augusta and grew up playing many different sports.  At Lucy C. Laney High School, he was a triple threat athlete who played football, basketball, and baseball.  While attending Stillman College, he participated in four years of basketball.  He received his Master's degree from the University of Phoenix and is an owner of a Perfect Cleaning Home and Commercial Services business. Coach Miller currently works for Georgia Crisis and Access Line on the mobile crisis team and has coached young athletes for over 15 years in football, basketball, track, and softball.  He says, “In my coaching practice, I provide the tools, strategy, and support to help kids create meaningful change in their lives.”
